Grand Tokaj Classic Selection Sweet Szamorodni, 2021

Szamorodni is a sweet Tokaj wine speciality made by harvesting whole bunches containing ripe, overripe and botrytised aszú berries. The luscious nose displays honey, pear and delicious grapes, with oaky notes from barrel ageing and elegant botrytis in the background. Plenty of fruit on the palate with vanilla, citrus and a slight caramel creaminess. Despite its sweetness, the citrus flavours, the inherent freshness, lightness, vibrancy and the playful acid-sugar-alcohol balance make for great drinkability. Fermented in temperature-controlled steel tanks, then aged for over a year in Zemplén oak barrels of various sizes in the exceptional tranquillity of our 5.5 k m long Szegi Cellar.
