Vida Bonsai Old Vines Kadarka, 2023

An exceptional Kadarka from our 100 year old vines planted in 1920. A charming wine, complex with light elegance, red berries, fresh acidity and playful spices. Fermented and matured in amphora. A true local variety of the valleys of the Szekszárd region. It’s name comes from our Japanese partner who once visited the vineyard and shouted “Bonsai-Bonsai!” and told us that “you don’t know how rich you are if you have so many bonsai trees”. He also told us that in Japan it’s a symbol of wisdom and often an old man gives his bonsai tree to his grandson, while the tree represents the man himself. We kept telling this story at wine tastings, so we thought using the name Bonsai would tell what it was all about.
